Filmmaker Santosh Gupta is known for his movies like Faraar, Romi the hero, and Aaj Ki Aurat.
Now, as per reports, his wife & daughter have allegedly died by suicide.
According to reports, Santosh Gupta’s 55-year-old wife Asmita and daughter Srishti reportedly died by setting themselves on fire at their home in Mumbai’s suburban Andheri’s DN Nagar on April 5 in the afternoon.
PTI reported that Asmita and her daughter set themselves aflame on Monday afternoon in their apartment and the incident came to light when their neighbours summoned fire brigades.
If reports are to be believed, Santosh’s wife Asmita took this drastic step as she was suffering from a prolonged kidney ailment, and their daughter killed herself as she was unable to bear the trauma of her mother’s illness.
The two were supposedly rushed to Cooper Hospital, where Santosh’s wife Asmita was declared dead on arrival, while Srishti, who suffered 70% burns, succumbed to her injuries at Airoli National Burns Centre on Tuesday.
“We have registered two different accidental death reports in the case and further investigation is underway,” senior inspector Bharat Gaikwad from DN Nagar police station told PTI.
