Anushka Sharma, one of the most popular actresses of Bollywood, has been missing from the silver screen for quite a while now.
The actress was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Zero’, which was released in 2018.
On the other hand, Triptii Dimri had garnered positive reviews for her performance in the Netflix movie ‘Bulbbul’ (2020), produced by Anushka Sharma. Now, if this Peeping Moon report is to be believed, Anushka has allegedly been replaced by Triptii in Jhulan Goswami’s biopic film titled ‘Chakdah Express’.
Anushka was supposed to make her comeback with Jhulan Goswami’s biopic, wherein she was set to play the lead role of the former captain of the Indian national women’s cricket team.
“The project has gone through a major change in the last couple of months and although the film is still happening, Anushka will not star in it. Now, Bulbbul actress Tripti Dimri will frontline this film while Anushka will be a part of it only as a producer. She is co-producing it along with Sony Pictures India,” an insider informed the portal.
“Tripti will have to undergo rigorous training for months before she starts shooting for the film. It’s an extremely, physically demanding project that requires months of physical and mental dedication to get into the skin of the character. And this is the reason Anushka left the film. She doesn’t want to do such a heavy lifting film so soon after her delivery. She is rather looking for some light-hearted, romantic projects that she can shoot without compromising her mother’s duty,” the source added.
As the report further suggests, the film will now reportedly be made as a Netflix Original and will not be released in the theatres as planned earlier.
Directed by ‘Pari’ fame Prosit Roy, ‘Chakdah Express’ is expected to go on floors by the first quarter of 2022.
Last year in January, pictures of Anushka Sharma wearing the Indian cricket team jersey at Eden Gardens cricket stadium in Kolkata in the presence of Jhulan had also gone viral.
