Ananya Panday-Vijay Deverakonda will next be seen in the pan-Indian film ‘Liger’.
But did you know Ananya was allegedly NOT the 1st choice for Liger? The film’s director Puri Jagannadh revealed who he wanted to cast initially.
In a media interaction, Puri commented – “I am a big fan of Sridevi. I wanted to cast Janhvi Kapoor but her dates weren’t available.”
Karan Johar then suggested Ananya’s name and she was brought onboard. Talking about how the Liger collaboration happened with Karan Johar, Jagannadh opened up saying –
“He (Karan Johar) is the king. Basically, I love Karan a lot. When Karan saw Vijay’s Arjun Reddy, he had really liked him. Karan had said that if Vijay comes across any good script, he should bring it to him. So, when I narrated Liger’s story to Vijay, he told me that we should take it Karan. So we came here (to Mumbai) and then the collaboration happened.”

In theatres on August 25. Apart from Ananya-Vijay, Liger also stars Ramya Krishnan and has a cameo of boxing legend Mike Tyson.
