It’s been more than a decade we have been waiting for the third installment of the Don franchise.
As per reports, director Farhan Akhtar is currently reworking on the script of Don 3 as Shah Rukh Khan was not entirely satisfied with the idea.
According to a report, Farhan was planning to bring SRK, the OG Don Amitabh Bachchan and Ranveer Singh for Don 3.
As the report further suggests, Big B was supposed to reprise his role from the original version of Don (1978) and SRK would pass on the baton of the franchise to Ranveer, who would also essay a don.
“Farhan had an ambitious idea of getting Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan together in the third installment. Interestingly, Bachchan saab was the lead in the original Don (1978). It had a different ending and showed the good-natured Vijay surviving and Don dying, while SRK’s version showed vice versa. Hence, it’s not clear whether or not Big B was supposed to play the role from the original version. However, Farhan definitely had thought of casting Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in Don 3.”

The source continued – “And that’s not all. As per Farhan’s plot, Don 3 was also supposed to have a cameo by Ranveer Singh. He too was going to play Don. The idea was that SRK’s Don character would pass the baton to Ranveer’s Don character so that he can take on the iconic role in the future parts.”
“Let’s see if Farhan Akhtar fleshes out this idea in a better and more convincing way or does he choose a different plot. Whatever the story idea, whether Shah Rukh Khan stars solo or is joined by other stars, the curiosity, and desperation to see Don 3 will always be sky-high,” the source added.
However, there is no official confirmation yet.
