During a literary event by Aaj Tak, Chetan took Urfi’s name while complaining about the youth’s addiction to phones, claiming her to be a distraction.
Chetan commented – “Phone has been a great distraction for the youth, especially the boys, who spend hours just watching Instagram reels. Everyone knows who Uorfi Javed is. Her posts garner crores of likes.
What will you do with her photos? Is it coming in your exams or you will go for a job interview and tell the interviewer that you know all her outfits?
These things are a distraction. It’s not Urfi’s fault, she’s just making her career. There are 50 others like her. On one hand, there is the Indian youth who is protecting our nation at Kargil and on another hand, we have the other youth who is leering at Urfi’s pics while in bed.”

However, Urfi Javed was not amused by the author’s comments. She said –”Just because you’re a pervert, doesn’t mean it’s the girl’s fault.”
She also brought up Chetan Bhagat’s MeToo Whatsapp messages and asked him why was he messaging girls half his age!
“What was the need to mention my name at a LITERATURE festival? I’m not even an author. It doesn’t concern me. Commenting that the youth is getting corrupted because of me and how people are secretly looking at my pics in bed? Forget the youth, you’re older, you’re like their father or uncle’s age….why did you message girls half your age despite being married? Weren’t you getting corrupted then? Wasn’t that affecting your marriage or kids?” – Urfi retaliated.
