Touted to be India’s ‘first ever bio-science’ movie, it hit theatres on 28 September 2023!
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri (The Kashmir Files fame), The Vaccine War stars Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Girija Oak, Anupam Kher, Nivedita Bhattacharya among others.
Based on the book ‘Going Viral’ by Prof Balram Bhargava, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the movie depicts the memorable journey of Indian in making the Covid-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ within just 7 months amid the pandemic.
The Vaccine War Box Office Collection Day 3:
The Vaccine War witnessed a low start at the box office despite opening to positive response from critics.
The film clashed with Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi and Manjot Singh starrer Fukrey 3 and Kangana Ranaut-Raghava Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2 and opened to a box office of Rs 85 lakhs.
According to Sacnilk, the film witnessed a slight growth and raked in Rs 1.75 crores on Saturday, taking the total collection to Rs 3.50 CRORES in 3 days.
Reportedly, the movie had an overall occupancy of 16.30% in the Hindi belt.
Day 1 : ₹ 85 lakhs
Day 2 : ₹ 90 lakhs
Day 3 : ₹ 1.75 crores
Total : ₹ 3.50 CRORES!
Talking to News18, Vivek Agnihotri had opened up on not getting financiers for his movie.
“If you take a look at the list of upcoming films and the most anticipated releases put forth by news channels and newspapers, none of them include The Vaccine War. Since the last nine months, people were aware that we’re making this film. This morning, an eminent trade analyst sent me one such list of the expected films of this month and they stated that the next big hit will be another film that’s also releasing on September 28.”
“That list of releases didn’t even include the name of our film as if we don’t even exist. If we don’t exist, how will anyone even finance our film? Aise situation mein kua khud khodna padhta hai aur paani nikalna padhta hai (In this situation, I will have to dig the well and also take the water out myself).”
