Sarfira Movie Review; Akshay Kumar Is Back With A Bang With This Inspiring Social Drama

Rating: 3.5/5

Director: Sudha Kongara

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal

Storyline:

Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira is a remake of Sudha Kongara’s Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020) which was an adaptation of G. R. Gopinath’s memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey. It’s based on the inspiring life of Captain G.R Gopinath; the founder of Air Deccan.

Hailing from a small village, Vir Mhatre’s (Akshay) rebellious spirit is nevertheless raging hard. While everyone around him writes him off as a overzealous Sarfira, there is very much a method to his madness.

He meets his match in his firebrand of a wife Rani (Radhika), who’s equally ambitious and passionate about opening her own business.

When Vir sets out on his journey to make low-cost airlines a reality for low income people, he’s met with persistent hurdles – his biggest nemesis being Paresh Goswami (Paresh Rawal), the undisputed leader in the aviation industry.

How will Vir overcome the constant sabotages to make his dreams come true? Watch this inspiring drama to find out!

Sarfira Movie Review:

Akshay Kumar is back with his brand of well-written social drama. The story is the winner here, complemented by strong performances and Radhika Madan stands out with her fiery role.

It has a good balance of emotions, an engaging plot about the dirty politics in aviation, infused with some doses of comedy to keep it fresh.

Akshay gives an earnest performance as Vir Mhatre, though at times the melodrama feels greatly exaggerated in his portrayal. Akshay’s past couple of movies saw a certain lethargy seep into his acting, but thankfully, that is not the case with Sarfira. In a way, Sarfira can be said to be the return of Akshay Kumar – the poster child of social dramas.

Sarfira Movie Review:

Despite the age gap, Akshay and Radhika share an extremely natural and convincing chemistry in Sarfira. The hit combo of Paresh-Akshay is back….their confrontation scenes are dynamic and intense, playing off each other’s energy well.

Radhika Madan is a cut above the rest in this inspiring drama. The actress is like a breath of fresh air as the feisty Rani.

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal is stellar as ever as the menacing industry leader, ruthlessly crushing his competitors. Seema Biswas as Akshay’s mother is absolutely heart-wrenching in some scenes.

The songs break the momentum a little bit, but apart from that Sarfira soars high and makes a safe landing.
